Local Cinema Review

Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about local cinema: the films, places, production choices and viewing traditions that connect screen stories to particular communities and regions.

What makes a good pitch

Send a focused idea with a working title, a short explanation of its central point and why it suits Local Cinema Review. Strong proposals have a clear subject, a distinct angle and enough context for a general reader to follow. Explain what the piece can establish and where interpretation or uncertainty begins.

Contributions we consider

We consider accessible essays, explainers, comparisons and film-history pieces with a specific connection to local cinema. We are less suited to broad reviews without a place-based angle, promotional copy or claims that cannot be supported. Do not send confidential material or assume a pitch will be accepted.

How to send a pitch

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial enquiry option. Include a brief outline and any relevant writing sample details in your message; please do not send a complete unsolicited manuscript unless it has been requested.
